Dental Implants Kenya

A dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first placed so that it is likely to osseointegrate, then a dental prosthetic is added. A variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (a tooth, bridge or denture) is attached to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic.    :Dental implants Kenya
Basic implant surgical procedure
1.The area of the mouth that is missing a tooth is identified.
An area with a single missing tooth
2.An incision is made across the gingiva, and the flap of tissue is reflected to show the bone of the jaw.
3.Once the bone is exposed, a series of drills create and gradually enlarge a site (called an osteotomy) for the implant to be placed.
4.The implant fixture is turned into the osteotomy. Ideally, it is completely covered by bone and has no movement within the bone.
5.A healing abutment is attached to the implant fixture, and the flap of gingiva is sutured around the healing abutment.

Is it safe to do dental implants?
Dental implants are typically made of titanium, a biocompatible material that is accepted by the body and serves as a strong and sturdy foundation for replacement teeth. Your natural bone locks the implant into place by fusing, or attaching itself, to the implant.

Do dental implants hurt?
All of this drilling and screwing may sound painful, but you’ll be comforted to know that placing an implant is easier than taking a tooth out. Usually a local anesthetic is used, which means you are awake during the surgery. You shouldn’t feel any pain during the surgery, especially if it is done with healthy tissue.
Is there an alternative to dental implants?
A removable partial denture, an alternative to restore multiple teeth, is not nearly as stable as dental-implant restored teeth

What is better dentures or implants?
Dental implants are often a popular choice for people who have only one or two teeth missing, but they can be an alternative to dentures if you have several missing teeth. As long as your gums and jaw are healthy, two or more implants can serve as a base of support for several replacement teeth.

What are zygomatic implants
Zygomatic Dental Implants replace missing teeth in the upper jaw when ordinary implants cannot be used due to a severe lack of bone
